about

the art of riverskating

is to find play spots everywhere

Riverskate is the most radical performance whitewater SUP ever built.

Prototyped as a low-volume "squirtboard" - it's the first SUP capable of cartwheeling like a playboat.

Riverskate's design evolution led to the breakthrough of grab wings (patent pending #18/989,033).

Grab wings dramatically improve secondary stability which unlocks progressive whitewater freestyle maneuvers in a standing position.

The wings also give you a way to properly "lock in" your knees for proper whitewater canoeing technique when you're paddling in a kneeling position.

The unfortunate reality of much of today's sup design is that it comes from manufacturers who have little to no background in whitewater paddling. And so the options for nearly all inflatable river sups - including some of the biggest and most popular brands --  have been some variation of a giant oversized surfboard. And the fundamental issue with this is that surfboards gain their stability from, well...surfing. They need to plane on a wave to really perform.

The whitewater environment is totally different. There are times you're surfing, power ferrying, and carving. But other times you need to create other kinds of stability and directional control. And this is where traditional SUP designs fall short of what's possible.

The entire premise of riverskate is "whitewater born." Our designs borrow from the mystery realm of squirtboating, the fast and clean techniques of whitewater slalom, and the aerial /  three-dimensional access of creeking and playboating.

Every square inch of surface area, every liter of volume has been obsessed over dozens of models, prototypes, and builds for maximum whitewater performance.

Riverskate #15: 'HOVERCRAFT'

After more than a dozen prototype iterations, riverskate's first production model, the 'hovercraft' is a downriver freestyle sup that excels at surfing, cartwheeling in eddylines and running drops.

Boards will be available in July 2025. Please sign up to get on our shortlist and we'll let you know as soon as they drop.
